Welcome to Simsbury’s 2014 Babe Ruth Baseball Fall Season.
Simsbury Babe Ruth Baseball has a long and deep tradition of developing players as they transition from a recreational environment in Little League to the “Big Diamond,” where these teenagers play in a more competitive baseball atmosphere.
The Simsbury Babe Ruth program is designed to accommodate players of all skill levels. Practices and games will be structured to maximize each individual’s baseball experience. While inevitable that some players play more innings than others, Simsbury has instituted minimum play requirements.
While playing time is important, we believe practice and player development to be of more value. To support these values, managers and coaches will focus on player development in these key areas:
Sportsmanship learn to respect the game, the opponents, the umpires and their teammates
Development individual skill instruction
Game preparation strategies, situations and player positioning
Baseball rulesrules and regulations of the game
Team play team accomplishments will be stressed over individual achievement
Parents and players alike can do their part by being prepared for each practice and game. Players should always come dressed appropriately with all necessary equipment including:
water bottle, baseball spikes, glove, bat, hat and athletic supporter.
Practice and pre-game routines are essential components of player development and team preparation. With that in mind, players should plan to arrive 5 minutes before practice and 45 minutes before each game.
The Simsbury Babe Ruth program is a volunteer program. Your child’s experience depends on contributions parents make on and off the field. We want our kids to enjoy and appreciate the game. If we all contribute to the program, we can share in its’ success.
