The Simsbury Babe Ruth program is more than 50 years old and has a strong history of strengthening and developing players from baseball age 13 to 16 with players and teams from all towns welcome.

For every player coming to Babe Ruth (THE BIG FIELD) many parents and players are concerned with the scope of the change from little league size field to a full field. We have found that the players adapt very fast and truly get to be like their favorite MLB players.

Over the years, we understand this concern and insist from the older players that they are responsible to look out and help the younger players just like the older players looked out for them!

This is one of SBR’s guiding principles in developing a strong Simsbury baseball community.

SBR is for both those who are looking to play in high school as well as those who are still playing because they love the game. Realizing that not every family is willing (or able) to afford a premium cost -- both money and time -- for their baseball experience.

In 2021 integrated competing with West Hartford, Simsbury had 4 teams and West Hartford had 5 teams. During the week, we played against the other Simsbury teams and on the weekend 2 Simsbury teams traveled to West Hartford and 2 West Hartford teams traveled to Simsbury. That collaboration has evolved into various towns over the past years.

The concept was then carried into the Summer 2021 what we named the Tobacco Valley Baseball League (TVBL)  included 2 teams from Simsbury, 5 teams from West Hartford, 1 Team from Farmington, 1 Team from Wethersfield and 1 team from RHAM 10 teams traveling to various towns and fields.

This past summer of 2023, the TVBL blossomed to 13 teams from Simsbury, West Hartford, Farmington, Avon, Canton, New Hartford, Glastonbury and Marlborough.

The summer finishes with a playoff - championship and an All-Star game with all towns participating.

Our fall program has also grown in popularity as an extension of the TVBL. We usually field 8 teams with playoffs and championship.

We look forward to the continued building and growth of our local programs.
